September 4, 2007 - Senator Earll visited the Mercy Center for Women to
present a grant to Hooked On Books! Family Literacy program director,
Dr. Dolores Sarafinski (seated) and board member David Holland. The
Mercy Center for Women is hosting Hooked on Books! family literacy
sessions this fall, in which parents learn how to engage their children
in reading and children receive age-appropriate books to keep. Hooked
on Books! is housed at Gannon University, and draws upon volunteers from
among the student body and many professionals in the Erie area.

August 29, 2007 - Senator Earll met with Bruno Fortier, Delegate
General of Québec and the highest-ranking Quebec official in the United
States. They discussed joint economic development initiatives to benefit
Erie, including the possibility of an Erie delegation traveling to
Quebec in the near future to explore possibilities. |

July 10, 2007 - Senator Jane Earll, chair of the
Senate Community, Economic and Recreational
Development committee, questions Administration
officials about the decision to classify certain
casino employees as "non-essential" -- a move that
could have closed down casinos during the budget
impasse.

impact that a delayed state budget would have on the Pennsylvania gaming
