The Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee has gathered
today to conduct another information gathering hearing on the subject of table
games and related Senate Bill 1033, Printer’s No 1326 (Tomlinson/Mellow).
The Committee is gathering information in an effort to ascertain how table
games might impact the existing PA gaming industry. Furthermore, the Committee
is seeking input on a range of issues including, but not limited to the
following: appropriate fees and tax rates (sustainable and realistic), operating
costs, job creation (types and salaries), training and education requirements
(costs and timing), capital investment expected, regulatory and security issues
(scams and cheating), estimated time to properly implement table gaming at each
facility, number of table games anticipated and related space requirements,
types of table games (bank vs. nonbank), tournaments, extension of credit, etc.
