The Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee has gathered today to conduct both a meeting and hearing related to the serious issue of problem gambling. During the meeting portion the committee will consider Senate Resolution 10 (Problem Gambling Awareness Week and Month). The hearing portion will provide committee members with an update on the status of various problem gambling related initiatives and issues. Testimony will be provided to the committee by representatives of the PA Department of Health, PA Gaming Control Board (PGCB) and Counsel on Compulsive Gambling of Pennsylvania. A public discussion of these matters will ensure that the citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvanian are informed about the serious issue of problem gambling and the programs and resources that are available to help individuals and their families who have been adversely affected.
