Agenda

Thursday, July 5, 2007 at 11:00 A.M.
Hearing Room No. 1, North Office Building

PA Gaming Industry faces uncertainty without a Gaming Budget (2007-08): A look at how the lack of state funding would impact the oversight of gaming in Pennsylvania and might lead to an industry shutdown.

The Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee will be hearing testimony concerning how the lack of state funding would impact the oversight of gaming and could ultimately cause an industry shutdown throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The Committee members will be hearing testimony regarding the justification/need for a potential PA Gaming Industry shutdown, how it was determined (and by whom) which state employees associated with gaming where deemed essential versus non-essential, the timing that would be associated with such a shutdown (along with the notification process that would be utilized), how a shutdown would be undertaken (what procedures have been put in place to ensure that such would be done in an orderly and professional manner), how the gaming industry would be brought back on-line subsequent to a shutdown (and how long it is estimated such would take), what consideration or thought has been given to how the recently established gaming industry might be impacted by such a shutdown and the potential impact on the initiatives the revenues from gaming are intended to support throughout the Commonwealth.  Testimony is expected from the following individuals regarding the situation presently confronting the PA Gaming Industry:
